Does this pendant light fit on an existing basic light fitting?

You will need to replace and re-wire the ceiling rose, this is illustrated in the assembly instructions provided. The new ceiling rose and all necessary wiring is provided. We recommend this installation is carried out by a qualified electrician.

What length does the shade drop from the ceiling? Is this adjustable?

The length of the cable that carries the wiring for the lamp is not adjustable, and is 1.5m long. The steel wire is adjustable and can be used to set the drop of the lamp up to 1.5 meters.

Can I use a low energy bulb in this? Can you recommend a bulb?

The bulb that needs to be used in this light is an E27 bulb (this relates to the metal fitting). You can use any energy saving light bulb up to a maximum of the equivalent of a 60w incandescent bulb.
