Your website says the hinges are 'sprung'. Does this mean if the box was open and you let go of the lid, that it would close slowly? Would this be suitable as a child's toy box?

This product does not have a mechanism to control the descent of the lid. This sprung hinge does hold the lid open in the 90 degree position. The lid is not heavily weighted and is upholstered on the lip. This would be suitable as a child's toy box as long as a young child is not left to operate the box unattended.
