Summer. That time of the year when everyone dusts off the barbeque in preparation for a scorching afternoon outside. Or not. If you've spent most of this summer indoors but want to plan a laid-back dinner with friends, Laura Molner has got you covered. Read on to get the blogger's tips when it comes to creating garden party vibes in the comfort of your home.
"As a kid, I spent most of my summer holidays in the south of Sweden. So today I have a weakness for Scandinavian design, wood and natural materials." No wonder she gravitated towards a classic Scandi look when designing her dining room: "Good food, wonderful conversations and laughter – that's what makes me happy", says Laura. "And natural materials create a relaxed mood, which is especially important when eating. Don't forget fresh flowers and plants – in a city apartment that will really make you feel more connected to nature."
For the perfect summer dinner party that goes late into the balmy night, you need ice cold drinks, and cosy seating. Laura told us, "I love stylish furniture, but when seating is uncomfortable, nobody will want to linger long at the dining table. The rattan bench by Sebastian Cox not only looks beautiful, but also creates plenty of seating space. And when I don't have guests, it looks great at the foot of the bed as a storage for books." And what's most important? "To enjoy your meal. Without noise from the TV, without thinking about calories – just enjoy your food and the people around you."
